Offense:

Quarterback:  

  • Kavon Lewis, Senior, 5-10, 160 – 3-year starter with 55 career touchdown passes and has 1,000 points in basketball

Running Back:  

  • Nasir Robinson, Junior, 5-9, 188 – returning starter who rushed for 1,100 yards and played often as a freshman, scoring two touchdowns in sectional championship game

Wide Receiver:

  • Jamar Johnson, Senior, 5-10, 160 – returning starter: 1,000 all-purpose yards in 2018
  • Jayon Carter, Junior, 5-10, 180 – returning starter
  • Torvon Ransome, Senior, 5-11, 165 – 4-year starter: 945 all-purpose yards in 2018
  • Jymir Gilliam, Junior, 6-0, 175 – started on defense, competing and will play on offense 
  • Zion Cheeks, Sophomore, 6-2, 200 – started on defense and will also play on offense

Tackles:  

  • Jaylin Newton, Senior, 6-6, 220 – returning starter
  • Robert Trauger, Senior, 6-4, 230 – 3-year starter  

Guards:  

  • Anthony Moore, Senior, 6-2, 220 – returning starter   
  • Thomas Newlin, Senior, 5-11, 240 – returning starter  

Center:  

  • Malik Lewis, Sophomore, 5-10, 255 – started two games and will be the center this year
  • Jenneil Williams, Junior, 6-1, 260 – returning starter who could be 3-year starter in time

Defense:

Linebacker:  

  • Mekhi Scott, Senior, 5-11, 205 – 3-year starter and leading tackler in 2018 and play outside in 4-man fronts
  • Zion Cheeks, Sophomore – returning starter who will play the middle in 4-man fronts
  • Jymir Gilliam, Junior – started at strong safety and will play outside in both 3-and-4-man fronts 
  • Tyionn Brewer, Junior, 5-8, 195 – started four games and will play outside in 3-4   

Cornerback:  

  • Torvon Ransom, Senior – returning starter
  • Jayon Carter, Junior – returning starter
  • Kamal Lewis, Senior – will play in reserve

Safety:  

  • Jamar Johnson, Senior – returning starter at free safety  
  • Albree Stone, Senior, 5-11, 180 – will start at strong safety and started five games  
  • Nasir Robinson, Junior – returning starter who will play less on defense to keep him fresh on offense 

Special Teams: 

  • McNair returns at kicker and punter
  • Johnson, Robinson, and Carter are the return men

  • Tough schedule, including top programs back-to-back that are very well coached in Paulsboro and River Dell, plus a Linganore (Md.) team that has gone 12-2 in each of the last two years, winning Maryland AAA in 2017 and losing in the final last year  

Recruiting:   

  • Newton has an offer from Delaware State
  • Johnson has an offer from Sacred Heart
  • Ransome has an offer from New Mexico Highlands 
  • Lewis has interest from Kutztown and Assumption and may play basketball 
  • Scott has D2/D3 interest 
  • Trauger has 1,300 SAT score and may play at a high-academic D3  
  • Moore has interest ranging from 1-AA to D3
  • Underclassmen:
  • Robinson has offers from Temple, UMass, and Kent State
  • Carter has an offer from UMass
  • In sophomore class, Cheeks has offers from Temple and UMass

“Our team is very strong, although we lost some quality kids. We have a lot back and they have been working very hard. We have some young kids pushing our veterans. We need to get better every day and find some leadership and a team identity. We have some tough games in the early part of the season and we will find out what we’re made of.” – Head Coach John Emel
