Two months and one day ago Don Bosco stomped and humiliated Bergen Catholic, 31-7. Tonight, Bergen Catholic turned the tables, stomping and humiliating Don Bosco, 45-0, in the Non-Public B final.

Post 1,020 – Northern Highlands 21 North Hunterdon 20 in Overtime

Northern Highlands scored on the opening possession of overtime and blocked the extra point attempt by North Hunterdon to win the North Jersey Group 4 semifinal and advance to Rutgers and face Millville in two weeks.

Trailing 7-0 at the half, Caldwell scored 13 unanswered points to beat Westwood, 13-7. The winning score came with just over four minutes remaining.

Post 1,018 – Mountain Lakes 29 Weequahic 23

Weequahic was leading, 20-7, at halftime. I am told it was 7-7 in the second quarter when they blocked a punt and forced the Mountain Lakes punter into shanking another. Both plays led to Indian touchdowns.

Post 1,017 – DePaul 35 St. Joe’s (Hammonton) 14

DePaul broke open a 14-14 tie in the third quarter with 21 unanswered points to beat St. Joe’s (Hammonton), 21-14, to advance to the Non-Public B finals next week in a rematch against Red Bank Catholic.

In one of the wildest games I’ve ever witnessed, Northern Highlands beat Ramapo in overtime, 42-35 and became the 2022 North Jersey Section 1 Group 4 champions. There were lead changes and big plays, but many will remember this game

Post 1,004 – Cedar Grove 17 Wood-Ridge 10

Cedar Grove scored with 42 seconds left on a 67-yard touchdown pass to beat Wood-Ridge, 17-10. The Panthers could only get 10 points on the board in the first half, but it was as dominating a 10-0 lead could be.
