2017 in Review:  The Red Raiders were 10-2, winning the South Jersey Group 1 championship by beating Penns Grove in the finals after beating Salem and Pennsville.  They scored 392 points for a 32.67 average, while allowing 207 points for a 17.25 average, including two shutouts.  Wins included Woodbury, Gateway, and Florence, while their losses were to Haddonfield and West Deptford.

Graduation Losses:  RB/DB Dehron Holloway – ASA JC (NY), LB Nasser Bateman – ASA JC (NY)

Offense:  Paulsboro runs a multiple spread and returns seven starters.  Quarterback is a three-way competition among juniors Nick Pellegrini (6-3, 180), Gabe Onorato (5-9, 155), and Jarred Pierce (5-10, 170).  Running back has sophomore returning starter Bhayshul Tuten (5-10, 185), senior Tyhere Dowd (6-1, 190), junior Brenden Parham (5-10, 170), and junior Gateway transfer Derrick Parker (5-10, 170).  Tuten started at wide receiver, while Parham and Parker may also play wide receiver.

Wide receiver returns juniors Jamel Miles-Benjamin (6-1, 190) and Jacob Eli-Perez (5-9, 155).  Junior Nick Worstall (6-1, 175) is in the running, along with junior Jacen Abbott (5-11, 165), sophomore Quamire Gantt (6-0, 160), Parham, and Parker.  Returning at tight end is senior Santino Morina (6-0, 195) and he will be backed up by senior Anthony Morina (5-11, 200), who saw time last year in two-TE formations and also started on defense.

The line has three starters returning in senior tackles Robert Glocker (6-4, 280) and Douglas Blue-Eli (6-3, 295), plus senior center Austin Mooney (5-11, 230).  The guards are not yet settled with junior Kade Stevens (6-0, 225), sophomore Tino Savaiinaea 5-11, 255), sophomore Max Medina (5-11, 215), and junior Chami Mack (5-11, 215) in the running.

Defense:  The Red Raiders run a 3-4 and return eight starters.  The line positions are interchangeable, with Savaiinaea back at nose guard, plus Blue-Eli and Glocker returning as tackles.  Expected to rotate in are Medina, Stevens, Mooney, and Mack.

Returning at linebacker are Anthony Morina on the inside and Santino Morina on the outside.  Competing for the other inside position are senior Khalil Smith (5-11, 195), junior Darian Joyce (5-8, 180), and senior Chris Roman (5-10, 180).  The other outside post has Miles-Benjamin battling Dowd and sophomore Robert Lovett (6-1, 195), with Miles-Benjamin seeing time last year.

Three starters return to the secondary: Perez-Eli and Tuten at the corners and Onorato at safety.  Worstall is in the lead for the other safety, while he will be pushed by Pierce, Abbott, Gantt, and Parham.

Special Teams:  Senior Ricky Wolf returns as the kicker and Dowd is back at punter.  The return men are Tuten, Perez-Eli, and Parker.

Concerns:  Depth and staying healthy.

Recruiting:  Glocker, Blue-Eli, and Santino Morina are 1-AA/D2 possibilities.  The others are D3 types.
