Post 1,412 – Bull Session Week One

Congratulations to JP Stevens for winning their first game since 2018 – that is 40 losses over five seasons – cheers to them!…. Two players can play for my team any day: West Essex cornerback Max Garcia and West Morris fullback Peter Miragliotta. Garcia has made plays on defense the last two years I have seen him and always sticks his nose into the action, while Miragliotta consistently gains yardage and gets some good runs in the two games I have seen him on YouTube with Big State Sports….Morris County had two exciting games that I know about: Morris Knolls beating West Morris in overtime and Randolph going for two points at the end of their game with Morristown and successfully executing the play for the win….Another good one was Haddonfield’s 21-20 win over Woodbury….Another was Middletown South’s 28-21 overtime win over Manalapan…..And yet another was Jackson winning on a 19-yard field goal by Joe Muzzillo as time expired to beat Long Branch, 37-34….NFC East: The good thing is that the Eagles won their first game with a good outing from Saquon Barkley. The bad is the Giants turned in a clunker. It never changes for the Giants with no light at the end of the tunnel and are the laughingstock of pro football….Did anyone put any money last week on Northern Illinois against Notre Dame?…. After the Pascack Valley-Westwood game, it took me approximately ten minutes to exit the Valley parking lot with it only being one way out. Once I turned out of the lot and went to the traffic light at Piermont and Kinderkamack, when it turned red. A few of us in the cars began beeping one at a time, musical chairs style, and I had a good laugh. Maybe one of you reading this was in that caravan….Some performances from this past weekend caught my eye were (courtesy of nj.com): Passing: Jack Moran, Hun, 20-28-531-6, John Franchini of Mainland going 7-9-273-3, Justin Scaramuzzo of St. Joe’s (Metuchen) completing 17-of-27 for 392 yards and 3 touchdowns, Gabe Miles of Passaic tech going 12-18-268-4, Zach Miceli of Old Tappan with 10-13-220-3, and Richie Trotman of JFK (Iselin) with 26-31-3….Rushing: Xavier Williams of Paramus Catholic going for 254 yards and 6 touchdowns on 26 carries, Rahmel Anderson of Lakewood gaining 353 yards and 6 touchdowns, Demetrius Williams of Clayton with 323 yards and 5 touchdowns on 13 carries, Matteo Tramutola of Voorhees with 301 yards and 5 touchdowns on 37 carries, Jake Henehan of Toms River South gaining 284 yards and 3 scores on 12 carries, Johnnel Johnson of Barnegat with 178 yards and 6 touchdowns on 20 carries, and Ace Etienne of Manasquan with 230 yards and 6 touchdowns on 14 carries….Receiving: Jae’on Walker of Hoboken with 7 receptions for 210 yards and 2 scores, Luis Placido of New Milford catching 7 for 165 yards and two touchdowns, Marquis Taylor with 12 receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown, Ashton Irving of St. Joe’s (Metuchen) with 8 receptions for a 142 yards and 2 scores, Jacob Pappas of St. Joe’s (Metuchen) catching 5 for 193 yards and one score, Jake Blum of Mainland with 4 receptions for 242 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Terrell Wilfong of West Orange with 6 receptions for 121 yards and 3 scores….Hun’s Moran has 1,048 yards passing and 11 touchdowns in two games and has verballed to Charlotte….I noticed one Pope John touchdown when the Pope John player loafed into the end zone on a long run, almost at a walk, and had a defender within five yards of him when he crossed the goal line. Plays like that put the player scoring possibly looking like a fool should the defender catch him. And I will love it when it happens….Bergen Catholic beat Massillon (Ohio) last week and Massillon is where coaching legend Paul Brown got his start before heading to Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. He is one of the best coaches ever….That’s all for this week! I will be back with more bull soon!
