Bull Session State Finals

Hats off to the seniors who played their last high school football game, especially those who were not on successful teams. They gave their heart and soul for four years!…. It is that time of year with the state championship week in high school. One thing I must warn North Jersey readers about: the North Jersey public schools may be shut out of any championships. The team with the best chance is Old Tappan against Cedar Creek, but that is not a slam dunk. Cedar Creek has speed that Old Tappan has not seen all year, and that could be problematic for the Golden Knights. I am not disrespecting the North Jersey public teams, and I hope I am wrong, but the South Jersey teams are better at this point. Cedar Grove and Ramapo must play their A-game to have any chance against Glassboro and Winslow, respectively. Washington Township appears to be a special team in Group 5. Camden looked outstanding against Haddonfield. Again, I hope I am wrong, but it could be ugly….. On the Catholic front, Don Bosco and St. Joe’s (Montvale) have a chance to be a great game in Non-Public A. I think Paramus Catholic has a chance to beat DePaul in Non-Public B: I am not saying they will win, but it is possible….. I attended the Old Tappan-West Morris game on Friday night, and I did not expect that game to be played on a running clock…..Since that game was at 6:00, I was able to catch the fourth quarter of several games on Big State Sports. I saw the game-winning field goal Cedar Grove kicked, and it was a nice sight to see the kids behind the goal post witness it and celebrate….. I also watched Holmdel-Cedar Creek’s ending, including the fourth-down run by Jack Cannon that was just short of the first-down marker. …..Uniform front: a major thumbs down for St. Joe’s (Montvale) for their road uniforms of a white jersey with gold numbers and the home alternative gold jersey with white numbers. Both are very hard to read, and aren’t they the Green Knights? ….. That’s all for this week! I will be back with more bull soon!
