Belated Bull Session Week Six
October 20, 2024
Daddy Ball was alive and well last week at the St. Mary-Pompton Lakes game with the St. Mary parents complaining about the officials. It was the typical “let ‘em play” and other stuff. They didn’t like all the flags being dropped on them. Meanwhile, they were winning 28-0. When the officials left the field, they chanted “One more flag!”….I love the Spotswood tradition of the seniors ringing the bell behind the end zone after a win at home….I hate to say it, but the Mets are a more exciting team than the Yankees and I am a Yankee fan. The Yankees have punched their World Series ticket and it remains to be seen whether the Mets come back to beat the Dodgers….While I am at it, the Yankees may be in the World Series, but since Babe Ruth went to the Yankees in 1920, I can come up with 50 Yankee teams that are better than the current one. There might be as many as 70….The buzz phrase that has gained traction is generational talent….The NFC East will be interesting with the Giants playing the Eagles today. While I expect the Eagles to win today’s game, if the Giants win, do the Eagles fire Nick Siriani?…. As for the AFC East, the Jets are a big circus with Aaron Rodgers….I wasn’t surprised that Rancocas Valley beat Washington Township but with the ease of a 27-0 score…. One wild game I watched on Big State Sports on YouTube was Ramsey’s comeback 29-28 win over Lakeland….Toms River North has allowed 39 points this year, including four shutouts….Some people may scoff at small-school success, but Point Pleasant Boro lost by three to Group 5 Toms River North and won by three over Group 4 Brick Memorial while beating Donovan Catholic….Group 2 Rumson-Fair Haven beat Point Pleasant Boro, Red Bank Catholic, and Donovan Catholic….Group 2 Camden has wins over Group 5 Kingsway, Group 5 Rancocas Valley, and Group 4 Shawnee. That is why I have them ranked at the top in Groups 1-2….Players who caught my eye, courtesy of nj.com are Passing: Khajuan Roseborough of Atlantic City completing 18 of 28 for 393 yards and 4 touchdowns, Justus Favata of Ramsey went 21-36-369-4, Jack Cannon of Holmdel went 17-19-352-3, Noah Ramos of Livingston went 15-18-303-3, Kelton Ibach of Delaware Valley went 20-26-286-4, and Michael Moritz of Camden Catholic went 16-21-232-4. Receiving: Jack Viola of Middletown North caught 11 for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns, Jordan Angstreich of Rumson-Fair Haven went 10-205-1, Brandon Bradsher of Perth Amboy went 9-184-2, Joey Korcak of Ramsey went 9-169-2, Wyatt Moore of Notre Dame went 11-162-3, Trey McFadden of Montgomery went 11-145-1, and Brody Deiter of Rancocas Valley went 7-115-3….. Cannon of Holmdel passed for 352 yards and 3 touchdowns, plus 168 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing, producing 520 yards of offense and 6 touchdowns….Governor Livingston had over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing each from running back Jack Dally (214) and quarterback Lucciano Santamaria (204). The Highlanders had 457 yards rushing as a team against Voorhees…. ….That’s all for this week! I will be back with more bull soon!
