Post 1,418 – Bull Session Week Two

Bull Session Week Two

Let’s hear it for Highland Park! They are off to a 2-0 start and won the final game of last year. Before that, they lost 51 straight, last winning a game in 2016…..I saw a fun football game last Thursday night in Englewood for their game with Dumont. It was a 46-46 tie in three overtimes and Damani Williams had an outstanding night for Englewood. He passed for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns on 11-of-18 passing and rushed for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns, including one that went 95 yards. He had 13 tackles and 2 interceptions, one returned for a score. The game also featured an altercation in the Englewood huddle, but nobody was ejected….Ramapo is 0-2 against good teams from Somers (NY) and Ridgewood. It doesn’t get any easier with Old Tappan visiting this week and Passaic Tech in two. Northern Highlands and Wayne Valley are also on the schedule. The Raiders face a big challenge….It is always a fun day to see a Manasquan game. They lost their first of the year against an overwhelming Manalapan team and it was a beautiful day. My associates and I went to Leggett’s afterward and across the street to the boardwalk and ran into a former Shore Conference coach. After that, it was a scenic drive along the ocean with many beachgoers…. It looks as if Toms River North has not missed a beat this year after Micah Ford and other players graduated….Some of the best performances from last weekend (courtesy of nj.com): Passing: Shane Hoover of Sparta going 22-26-375-4, Tyler Bell of St. Peter’s Prep passing for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns on 13-of-17, Owen O’Toole of Rumson-Fair Haven with 17-23-310-2, Shawn Bellenger of Lyndhurst went 17-20-309-3, Aidan Lunn of Manchester Township going 13-17-290-3, Nick Atme of Glen Rock with 13-18-273-6, Khajuan Roseborough of Atlantic City went 12-15-241-3, and Jerzey Ryan of New Milford was 12-15-208-1….Rushing: Kalvin Thomas of Montclair-Kimberley gained 230 yards and 5 touchdowns on 21 carries, Rahmel Anderson of Lakewood with 315 yards and 5 scores on 26 carries, Remi Rodriguez of Middle Township with 23-228-2, Abdul Turray of St. John Vianney gained 221 yards and 3 touchdowns on 15 carries, Ben DeCore of Hopewell Valley with 21 carries for 189 yards and 4 scores, and Dylan Duerring of Warren Hills gained 184 yards and 3 touchdowns on 13 carries….Receiving: Lotzeir Brooks of Millville with 8 receptions for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, Enzo Ferrero of Westfield with 6-180-3, Woodbury’s Elijah Young caught 4 for 157 yards and 1 score, Nick Lagunowich of Chatham with 10 receptions for 116 yards and 1 score, Noah Schwartz of Robbinsville with 5 receptions for 157 yards and a score, Eneaz Wells of Weehawken caught 7 for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns….NFC East: The Giants scored three touchdowns and allowed none, but still lost, while Many are speaking about Saquon Barkley dropping a pass that would have allowed the Eagles to run out the clock and lose to Atlanta….That’s all for this week! I will be back with more bull soon!
